Mission Australia - Christmas Day

The Christmas Lunch in the Park is a vital community event dedicated to feeding disadvantaged people on Christmas Day. For this meaningful activation, The Event Mill worked alongside Reeces to create an inclusive, accessible, and comfortable environment for all attendees.  

While Reeces provided the large-scale marquees and essential structures, The Event Mill was responsible for the complete internal fit-out, focusing on high-capacity functionality and patron comfort.

Creating a Functional Community Space

As a recurring annual event where The Event Mill are the providers of choice, the setup is designed to handle high volumes of people while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Our involvement focused on providing a practical and dignified setting for the Christmas meal.  

To support Mission Australia’s goals, we supplied:

• High-Capacity Seating: All basic tables and chairs required to accommodate the large number of patrons attending the dinner.  
• Activation Spaces: Furniture and equipment for specific zones, including dedicated haircutting stations.  
• Essential Infrastructure: Integrated lighting systems to ensure the space remained well-lit and safe for all guests.  
• Entry and Shade Areas: Support for the entry spaces and general public areas, providing much-needed shade on what is typically a very hot day.

Accessibility and Mobility Considerations

Because this is a high-capacity event for the general public, ensuring the space was easy to navigate was a primary concern. The Event Mill carefully planned the layout to ensure:  

• Ease of Access: Strategic consideration of how people would enter and move throughout the space.  
• Mobility Requirements: The furniture and floor plan were arranged to accommodate various mobility needs, ensuring every attendee could access the food and services comfortably.
