VB - Optus Stadium

The State of Origin series is a pinnacle of Australian sport, and its arrival at Optus Stadium brought an incredible energy to the surrounding precinct. To celebrate the occasion, The Event Mill partnered with Reeces to deliver a comprehensive live site experience at The Camfield, specifically activating the Southern Oval, Camfield Lawn, and Numbat Lawn.

While our sister company, Reeces, provided the essential structural marquees, The Event Mill was responsible for the full event fit-out, branding, and atmosphere that made the live site a must-visit destination for fans.

Branded Hospitality and Fan Zones

The activation was heavily sponsored by VB, requiring a setup that seamlessly integrated their iconic branding while providing a premium experience for VIPs, sponsors, and the general public. Our team delivered a versatile range of furniture and equipment to support these various zones:

• Custom Pallet Bars & Tables: To match the rugged and authentic feel of the VB brand, we utilised custom pallet bars and pallet high cocktail tables.
• Cocktail Furniture: A mix of basic cocktail furniture was strategically placed across the fan zones to encourage socialising and movement.
• Premium Seating: For the hospitality and VIP areas, we featured stylish seating options such as the Arrow High Bar Stool in white and Crossback Dining Chairs in oak to provide comfort without compromising the event’s aesthetic.

Technical Infrastructure & Atmospheric Lighting

Beyond the furniture, The Event Mill managed the technical elements that transformed the lawns into a professional event space. This included:

• Festoon Lighting: We installed festoon lighting across the outdoor areas to create a vibrant, safe, and welcoming evening atmosphere.
• Truss Systems: A bespoke truss arch and various trussing systems were used to define entry points and support event signage.
• Internal Navigation: We organised the internal signage across the site, including specific directions for the “direct locker room” and other restricted areas.

Logistical Coordination and Site Protection

Managing a large-scale event on the high-quality turf at The Camfield and Optus Stadium requires meticulous planning. The Event Mill worked closely with stadium operations and health and safety teams to ensure the site was managed responsibly.

Key logistical supports included:

• Event Fencing: We provided all necessary fencing to manage crowd flow, secure hospitality zones, and ensure public safety throughout the broadcast.
• Grass Maintenance: Every aspect of the setup was designed to maintain the integrity of the lawns, working in alignment with the venue’s strict protection requirements.
